Suitable even for first time rafters, this thrill-ride of churning water and breathtaking scenery will be the highlight of your trip.

You will see many birds, lots of rainforest wildlife and views of the Arenal Volcano. The Balsa River is ideal for first-time river rafters rated 2 or 3 with rolling rapids to float upon.
This is an ideal half-day tour because it is close and you will not spend a lot of time traveling to and from it.
No experience is necessary for this tour, but it is advised that you know how to swim, even though you will be given life jackets to wear.
This tour is recommended for ages 7 to 65 whether you are a first-timer or an expert.

The Pacuare River is one of the top five rafting rivers in the world for its scenery and rapids. This quintessential tropical river is a trip of pure magic, unsurpassed beauty, wildlife and exhilarating rapids.
After an early morning pickup from your San José hotel, you will drive by private, comfortable bus to our Operations Center for a delicious, typical Costa Rican breakfast. After changing comfortably into your swim gear we will drive to our private put in. At our putin the safety talk, equipment fitting and familiarization are done before embarking in the best rafting the country has to offer.
After an adrenaline-packed afternoon running rapids like Upper and Lower Huacas, Cimarron, Dos Montanas and many more, we finish with a short drive back to Operations Center for a hearty and delicious lunch, showers, optional drinks and souvenir store. On the return drive to San José, you’ll enjoy remarkable views of Braulio Carrillo National Park and Irazú Volcano. This unforgettable trip will easily be a highlight of your stay in Costa Rica!

Who can go? Anyone in normal healthy physical condition. Swimming experience is required. Min. age: 14-years-old.
Difficulty: Moderate. Class III rafting: Rapids with high irregular waves; narrow passages that often require complex maneuvering. Class IV rafting: Long, difficult rapids with constricted passages that often require precise maneuvering in very turbulent waters.
Rafting Distance: 14 miles River time: From 3-1/2 to 5 hours - depending on water level.

For those who are very interested in natural life of the rain forest, we begin this tour with a 20 minute drive to the Silencio farm, from where we start our walk for about 2 ½ hours.
As we walk through the forest, we have the possibility of spotting 3 species of monkeys, sloth's and a large variety of birds, including the Toucan. We end our walk with a refreshing beverage and a magnificent view, where hopefully you can see Costa Rica's most active volcano, erupting daily since 1968.
If desired we conclude the tour by relaxing in the nearby natural hot springs, from where you will also have nice view a of Arenal Volcano. Departure at: 7:00 a.m. Return at: 12:00 p.m. or 2:00 p.m. when hot springs included. Tour includes: Door to door transportation in La Fortuna or surroundings, bilingual naturalist guide, beverage, entrance fee to the rainforest farm and, if desired, entrance fee to the hot springs.
