Olas Verdes – First LEED Certified Surf Hotel!
The Olas Verdes became the first LEED Certified Surf Hotel in May 2016. This honor recognizes the concern and dedication of the owners of Olas Verdes to provide an eco-conscious alternative to visitors of the Nosara area. This effort makes Olas Verdes a unique and sustainable jewel in Costa Rica – a country that promotes ecological preservation. Efforts have firstly been made to make the entire property of Olas Verdes as sustainable as possible including an organic garden and composting area, several large rainwater collection tanks, waste water treatment that uses gray water for local irrigation and an extensive solar system for water heaters and other use. All vegetation on the property is native to the area and has interpretive signage to help guests identify the local plant and wildlife. Imagine floating in the pool with Howler monkeys roaming the treetops above you. No effort has been spared to make Olas Verdes as ecologically friendly as possible!
